Strategic Watch

The 209 beds enter the capacity base once commissioned and staffed. Track commissioning by hospital and specialty, then measure occupied bed days as each unit ramps.

GreyRadius Insight

Brownfield expansion should be assessed by staffed capacity and incremental patient demand. Model nursing coverage, theatre and ICU capacity, and referral flows by site before projecting utilisation or returns.

FDA grants accelerated approval to Inovio's Voceryq, the first plasmid DNA-based immunotherapy for recurrent respiratory papillomatosis

30 October 2026 | North America — United States

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted accelerated approval to Voceryq, developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, for reducing surgical papilloma excisions in adults with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP).

RRP is a rare HPV-associated condition characterised by recurring growths in the respiratory tract, often requiring repeated surgical removal.

The regulatory decision was supported by an open-label, multicentre clinical study involving 32 adults who had undergone at least two surgeries in the preceding 12 months, including a scheduled surgery at study entry.

Among the 26 patients with at least three baseline surgeries, 7 patients (27%) required no surgical intervention during the first year following treatment.

Voceryq is administered through intramuscular injection using the CELLECTRA 5PSP electroporation device. The treatment represents a new therapeutic approach aimed at reducing the need for repeated procedures rather than simply removing existing lesions.

The accelerated approval creates a pathway toward patient access, but continued approval depends on verification of clinical benefit in post-approval studies. Reimbursement and widespread commercial availability have not been established by the approval announcement.

Source: U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Strategic Watch

The surgery-free result comes from an open-label subgroup. The confirmatory study and real-world procedure tracking will clarify durability and clinical benefit, while coverage and device readiness will shape access.

GreyRadius Insight

Map the pathway from specialist referral to coverage and administration. Track time to treatment, device availability and repeat surgical procedures so access barriers and clinical outcomes can be assessed separately.

Eloxx Pharmaceuticals receives FDA clearance to advance exaluren into Phase 2 trials for genetically defined kidney disease

29 October 2026 | North America — United States

Eloxx Pharmaceuticals announced FDA clearance of its investigational new drug application for exaluren, enabling U.S. clinical sites to participate in the global EXPRESS Phase 2 study.

The treatment is being developed for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) associated with nonsense mutations in the PKD1 or PKD2 genes.

The planned Phase 2 study will enrol approximately 60 genetically confirmed adult patients, randomised 1:1 to exaluren or placebo over 52 weeks.

The primary endpoint is the annualised change in height-adjusted total kidney volume, measured using MRI at baseline and weeks 28, 36 and 52. Kidney-function and safety data will provide additional evidence.

Key development timelines:

First patient dosing expected in Q3 2027.
Topline 52-week clinical results expected in H1 2029.
FDA feedback indicates that a substantial and durable effect on kidney-volume growth, supported by kidney-function and safety findings, could provide a basis for discussing Breakthrough Therapy Designation.

The clearance authorises clinical investigation; it does not establish efficacy, regulatory approval or patient access.

Source: Eloxx Pharmaceuticals

Strategic Watch

Recruitment depends on identifying genetically confirmed patients. Kidney-volume findings will need to be read alongside kidney function and safety, and the dosing and readout dates remain targets.

GreyRadius Insight

For a trial partnership, start by validating the referral and genetic testing pipeline. Ask sites to estimate eligible referrals, screening conversion and MRI scheduling capacity before committing to enrolment targets.

CereVasc secures FDA authorisation to investigate eShunt technology for Alzheimer's disease

29 October 2026 | North America — United States

CereVasc received FDA approval of an investigational device exemption permitting clinical evaluation of its eShunt System in patients with early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease.

The technology uses a minimally invasive endovascular approach to divert cerebrospinal fluid into the venous circulation. The proposed mechanism aims to increase cerebrospinal-fluid cycling and investigate whether this can support clearance of substances associated with Alzheimer's pathology.

CereVasc cited an estimated 7.4 million Americans aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer's disease, with projections reaching 13.8 million by 2060 in the absence of breakthroughs.

The company is also evaluating the eShunt system for normal-pressure hydrocephalus and reported completion of enrolment in its separate STRIDE pivotal randomised trial.

The Alzheimer's programme remains investigational. The FDA authorisation permits a clinical study but does not establish treatment efficacy or permit commercial sales. Study results will need to demonstrate procedural safety and meaningful patient benefit before broader clinical adoption can be considered.

Source: CereVasc

Strategic Watch

The authorisation advances clinical investigation. Procedural safety, durability and clinically meaningful outcomes in the Alzheimer’s cohort are the milestones to track separately from the hydrocephalus programme.

GreyRadius Insight

A site considering participation should assess endovascular expertise, patient selection and longitudinal follow-up capacity. Commercial planning can be staged against indication-specific evidence as it emerges.

Processa Pharmaceuticals receives FDA IND clearance for Phase 2 VT-7208 trial and expands immunology pipeline

29 October 2026 | North America — United States

Processa Pharmaceuticals announced FDA clearance of an investigational new drug application for VT-7208, an oral Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor being developed for immune-mediated diseases.

The clearance enables a Phase 2 study in adults with moderate-to-severe chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) inadequately controlled with H1 antihistamines.

The planned multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study will enrol approximately 120 adults, comparing VT-7208 against placebo over 12 weeks, with efficacy, safety, tolerability and pharmacological activity assessments.

Processa estimates that CSU affects 1.6–2 million U.S. adults. The company is also planning Phase 2 proof-of-concept programmes in food allergy and relapsing multiple sclerosis.

In the same announcement, Processa disclosed a research collaboration and exclusive option agreement with Generian Pharmaceuticals to advance an oral neonatal Fc receptor antagonist programme.

The company reported an approximately US$200 million private placement associated with its earlier Vidya Therapeutics acquisition and expects its cash resources to fund operations into the second half of 2029. That financing should not be counted as newly raised during this reporting week.

The new milestones advance clinical development and pipeline diversification, but none of the investigational treatments has established clinical efficacy through these announcements.

Strategic Watch

The 12-week study can inform proof of concept in CSU. Track recruitment, efficacy and tolerability, and distinguish the Generian option from programmes that already have clinical data.

GreyRadius Insight

Evaluate each asset against its own evidence and funding milestones. For CSU, assess whether the trial population and endpoints address the questions investigators and future access partners will need answered.

FDA approves Pfizer's talazoparib–enzalutamide combination for HRR-mutated metastatic prostate cancer

26 October 2026 | North America — United States

The FDA approved talazoparib (Talzenna) in combination with enzalutamide for adults with metastatic androgen pathway modulation-naïve or -sensitive prostate cancer carrying qualifying homologous recombination repair (HRR) gene mutations.

The approval was supported by the Phase 3 TALAPRO-3 trial, a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 599 patients, assigned 1:1 to talazoparib plus enzalutamide or placebo plus enzalutamide. Both groups also received androgen deprivation therapy.

The primary endpoint was radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS).

TALAPRO-3 reported a hazard ratio of 0.48 for progression or death (95% CI 0.36–0.65, p<0.0001), corresponding to a 52% relative reduction in the hazard.

Median rPFS: Not reached with the combination versus 45.8 months with placebo plus enzalutamide.

Overall survival results remained immature at the time of analysis. FDA-authorised FoundationOne tissue and liquid companion diagnostic assays can identify eligible patients with HRR gene alterations.

The approval expands biomarker-directed treatment options in metastatic prostate cancer, with clinical adoption dependent on genomic testing, adverse-event management, treatment guidelines and reimbursement.

Source: U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Strategic Watch

The rPFS result advances the evidence for the approved population, with overall survival still immature at analysis. Test turnaround and payer coverage will influence how quickly eligible patients can access treatment.

GreyRadius Insight

Map the path from genomic test order to result, coverage decision and treatment initiation. Track where eligible patients drop out and plan capacity for adverse-event monitoring alongside diagnostic access.
